Whoa Mama

Just keeping my head above water. It's good stuff these summer days- but we are going, going, going. From one thing to the next. Time for a little iphone dump. Here's a peek into our week:

Hannah made the swim team. Her first meet is tonight. She's gonna kill it in backstroke.

She practices at 7:40am. Oy.

Golf comes next. You're actually looking at The Birthday Girl. As of 1:09am this morning she is now 9. Can you believe it?

We celebrated early! Canteloupe + mint, cinny rolls, and oj.

Camera strap

Oh! and I made a new strap for my new camera (loving it). The leather was hard to work with. Don't look too close. My machine wasn't happy about sewing through it and the nylon strap. I wanted camel colored leather to match my purse, and I always wear silver jewlery so I wanted silver buckles. You can find supplies here. Otherwise, it's just grey heavyweight fabric with a little frayed linen ruffle sewed down the middle.

Okay, I'm off again. xxoo

Back to back= tired

I had another birth last night. It was sweet, and lovely, and Lucy is a doll...but dang I'm tired. I think I've logged about 6 hours of sleep (not consecutively) over the last two days. I'm "on the verge of tears" tired. I think it would be hard for me to compose something witty, creative, or meaningful today.

How about I just steal some of Oscar's words?

I'll just leave you to think about that for a little while.

XXOO. Fingers crossed I'll be snoozing in less than 8 hours!

Tractor Mac's

Sorry to keep you all waiting...I've been in bed all afternoon catching up on sleep after an all-nighter birth (10.5lb baby girl born in the water!!). Thanks for letting me nap.

On to the big news...Remember this?

The idea of a farm stand started out as a just a fun thought, and very quickly became this little dream that we couldn't let go of. We kept talking about it-- about how we could grow food, keep chickens, make jam, plant flowers, bake goodies-- and share it all with others. As an added bonus Jen and I could be together doing something that we love.

Well, it's happening.

Through no effort of mine, it is happening! She found an existing farm stand for sale (it is 30 years old and in a fair amount of disrepair). The stand went to auction last month and through events nothing less than miraculous Jen was the winning bidder!!

She and her husband got the keys last Friday and our family gathered around to celebrate.

Aside from being excited about Jen's purchase, I was feeling so thankful for an extended family that rallies around your dreams and rejoices with you when they happen. That in itself is something to celebrate, no?

There's a lot of work that needs to be done on Tractor Mac's. It's easy to be a little overwhelmed. Good thing we have some hard workers on the job.

Uncle Tim's job is a little more gritty than mine.  Because I have a little tribe of people to take care of here, and because I live an hour away, and because I happen to know a really cheap web designer, my job is to create a new blog/website. I'll point you in that direction when it's up and running so that you can keep track of what's happening on our little farm.

Maybe at some point, I can get my hands dirty too.
